When it comes to business, you either invest your time and/or money. Usually a
combination of the two.
When first starting out, I invested almost all of my time. I had no money to invest.
What little I did have, I spent on my computer and marketing courses so I can learn.
Actually, the majority of my money at the beginning always went to buying a new
marketing course. Some were cheap and some were expensive. Some I learned a lot
from and some served primarily as reminders of what I had previously learned.
But at the very least, I always got something positive out of each course - so
the money was well spent in the long run.
Anyway, my point is I had no money to invest in advertising. So, I had to get creative.
Back then, search engines were really effective and they were free. So, it was
great. Now, search engines still work, but it takes MUCH longer before you see the
results from your efforts ... plus, the results aren't as positive as they use to
be.
What really worked well for me back then and still does today is submitting articles
to all the online newsletters and ezines. Basically, just write an article on your
favorite marketing topic and then submit the article to all the ezines and newsletters.
Just put a small byline at the end with a short bio about yourself and a link to
your site and bam, tons of free exposure for your site AND your name.
It's a great way of getting FREE publicity and building credibility which is so
very important to any business, especially a new marketer. Plus, many times it can
lead to very profitable Joint Ventures. Which is another VERY effective and free
way of promoting your product/service.
This is all covered in detail in the "Free Publicity" section in our
Cash Flow
Reporter. But that should get you started for now.
Remember, these newsletters go out each and every week and month. The publishers
NEED articles. They need YOUR help to fill their issues with useful information.
So you can use this tactic over and over and over again and it costs you NO money!
One last thing, don't turn your article into one big add. Just keep it informative
and helpful. Your byline at the end is all the promoting you'll need to do.
And don't worry if you don't know how to write. Just speak from your heart, make
your point and keep it the topics interesting. The
Cash Flow Reporter covers specific writing tactics as well, but the basic
idea is just to keep it simple and write what's on your mind.
