Today is Sunday, the end of my weekend and
I'm sitting here in front of the computer screen and I'm having a very difficult time trying to
figure out exactly what I want to tell you in this article (difficult only because I'm going to
discuss one of the most important and fundamental business principles ever... regardless
of what you sell or where you are located!)
I think the below can summarize a good portion of the emails we get when we consult. Maybe you
can identify with it:
The above is a VERY typical problem among all marketers and as I was saying above, I know
exactly what I want to tell you... but I guess the hard part right now is how
I want to tell it to you. It would be much easier if you were right here in front me, or sitting
next to me.
You would see my facial expressions... hear the changes in the tone of my voice... you would
easily be able to evaluate what I am saying (if I'm telling you the truth or if I'm lying) simply
by looking at my body language, facial expressions, etc.
But, you can't do this in a letter or over the Internet (let's face it, the Internet can be
totally impersonal!). Because of this very difficult task (my attempt to express my marketing
ideas by the use of this simple article), I must choose my words wisely and very carefully. One
wrong word or phrase, and I've painted you the wrong mental image!
The Most Powerful Concept In Marketing - Part 1:
How To Use "Magic Words"
|
Words are very powerful. If you use the correct word (or wrong one), you can produce almost
any emotion in any person (good or bad)!
For example, I want you to picture me holding a juicy, ripe,
bright yellow lemon in my left hand... And in my right hand, I hold a very sharp knife.
I slowly slice open this lemon... I can smell its freshness...
its tartness. Just thinking about the taste of this very sour, tangy... tart lemon is making
my mouth water! (It's probably making your mouth water as well right about now, correct?!!).
Slowly, I hold one half of this magnificent lemon above my head...
over my lips and I squeeze it's luscious juice into my mouth and onto my tongue. My eyes
squint (as if I'm looking straight into the sun) and my lips "pucker up" because it's so
sour... so tart... so mouthwatering... But boy, does it taste great!
Now, did you notice how I carefully constructed my words to paint
you just the right mental image to induce the exact emotions that I wanted? (which was to
make your mouth water like Niagara Falls!)
In a minute I'm going to show you how
to utilize this exact concept of using special "magic words" to sell any product or service
(on or off the Internet), automatically, with almost ZERO hesitation from your customers!
The Most Powerful Concept In Marketing - Part 2:
People Buy On EMOTIONS, NOT Logic!
|
It's human nature to be "emotional" and to ACT on your emotions. That's why "sex
sells". That's why "vanity sells". And that's why most of the wealthiest companies
in the world are pharmaceutical companies because"drugs sell".
Basically, anything that can make you feel or look good will always be a best seller simply because
you will act on your emotions when you make the purchase and NOT your logic.
Here are the facts and how you can use this simple tactic in your own
business (on or off the Net):
Some people may say "logical" things, but when you look at their actions, it's
usually based on impulse or emotions. How many times have you bought something that you
didn't need or shouldn't have bought, but you did it anyway? I know I have. It felt like I was
hypnotized or under some kind of magical "trance".
We've all done it! You buy something that you know you shouldn't or don't need or even want (knowing
all too well that you're gonna get yelled at by your spouse, mate or parents), but you do it anyway!
Here's How It Works:
Now, I know you're busy and you want to get right down to business, so I'm not going to waste
any time with examples of "why" you and I buy something we know we shouldn't. But, the basic psychology
is this: you buy on emotions and later (when you
are defending your "impulse" buy to your spouse, mate or parents), you BACK IT UP with
logic !

Here's Why You're Not Making As Much Money As You Could Be
...
|
On of the biggest reasons why most sites don't generate as many sales or even visitors to their
site is because of horrible ad copy or more importantly, the LACK
of any ad copy to begin with.
And by ad copy, I mean a sales letter type of page at your site which is specifically written
to sell your products or services. Or, even a simple newsletter ad or search engine ad that you
create ... A poorly written ad copy will destroy any chance of success you may ever have.
Almost everything on the Internet is based on words and
visual images. If you cannot show your customers a visual picture of your product or service,
then you are going to have to paint him a MENTAL image using specific, emotion producing words!
Without this emotional, mental-based image, your prospects will NEVER buy from you (they
have no reason to because their logical, negative side will always say NO!)!
It's that plain and simple. Look, I don't care...
- how great your product is,...
- how awesome your Web site looks,...
- how great your email marketing seems to be going,...
- how attractive your artwork may be,...
- what ezine/newsletter you're using to advertise,...
- what type or how great of an affiliate/associate program you have
at your site (or wanting to start one soon!), ...
Or how unique any other component of your advertising might be, NO
MATTER what you do... you will ALWAYS
have to convince your potential customers to buy NOW and this can
ONLY be done by properly written ad copy!
The bottom line is this: If you don't
do an exceptional job of motivating your prospects to take immediate action ...
if you bore them for one second ... if you confuse them ... or don't do the strongest job possible
of closing them once you have their attention ...
You're cheating yourself out of all the
sales and profits you could potentially be making!
I'm sure you know from experience that this is absolutely true. Haven't you run an ad, designed
a Web page, sent out an email or mailed a sales letter you were sure would sell like crazy
-- only to have it fail dismally?
I know this painful outcome is all too familiar. Most of my clients and subscribers have been
through this. Heck, I bet most people in business have been through this and probably most
still continue the same dead-end sales techniques.
Shoot, believe it or not, even some of the most successful web businesses on the entire
Internet have NOT been using effective ad copy strategies
to maximize their earnings! How do I know this? ... Because I've consulted top online businesses
as well as Fortune 500 companies. Go ahead and read some of the feedback found below:
Are the above results "exceptional" or "rare"? YES, for sure they
are as more likely then not, your business isn't as large as any of the above mentioned companies.
BUT, there are two things that I need to point out:
- Using the sales tactics that I will show to you in a minute, it's
guaranteed that you WILL benefit no matter what your product or service or how big or
small your company is.
- Here's one last thing to keep in mind ... the above companies
aren't new to marketing. They know what they are doing and yet, my ad copy tactics benefited
ALL of them. Just imagine how much more YOU will benefit?!!
You HAVE to use specific and strategically placed "magic words" to
create the true value of your product. Because you're not there in person, doing the actual physical
selling, your words and ad copy have to do the job
all by themselves and they get only ONE shot!
Listen, unless your product or service is in HUGE demand (like the cure for AIDS or cancer!)...
and there is basically no competition (because you have a patent on it or you were the first to
bring it to the market... like Viagra), then you will HAVE to create specific ad copy to do the
selling for you. There is absolutely no other way around it!
Now, I'm not saying you need to write a letter or an ad filled with a bunch of B.S. lies or exaggerated
claims and promises you can't fulfill! That's insane, unethical and ridiculous. (Besides, all
that's going to do is ruin your credibility and your customers are going to return your products,...
so don't waste anyone's time writing crap!)
Here's something else I want you to remember:
It's one thing to get people to your site... it's another
thing to get them to actually buy anything! Your "copy" or sales letter
is the foundation and the catalyst for all of your sales and profits - Never
forget that!
